I've heard that to dye rice pink I need to cook it with beet root. Does that only work in a cooker, because I make all my rice on the stove? And also, is basmati rice fine for making onigiri?

Also, is there a way I can dye the rice green and still be edible? I plan on making a pokemon bento for my friends and I at a picnic soon... and I have all the colors down except green. :P
